Now I'm a statistic.

My debit card number was stolen over the internet and used. The bank called to ask if I ordered $1500 worth of merchandise from a bridal/promdress salon, and over $700 from the limited.com and (of all things...) $7.90 from Giant.com.

Well, I hadn't, so they stopped payment on it all and will go after the culprit.

So if you get a call about questionable charges, be sure to reply or call back.

I am SO glad your bank called you. Many do not.

For those who DON'T know, you can put this in place ---- call your bank and tell them they have to call you for any purchases over a certain amount. You determine the amount. If you normally never spend over $200 at a time on your card, then tell them $250. If you never spend over $500 on your card, tell them $600.etc you get the idea.

Report your card stolen ASAP.

I hope you don't have to pay anything toward the charges.

Good job!

No. We'd been contacted before, just after we purchased a car with insurance money, using our checking account, and they called, then, too.

Chemung Canal Trust Company apparently watches over us all the time. I pay for my Liberty Account Monthly, and I guess it finally paid off.
